Ellie belfiglio

When I hear this sound that awakens me, intimidating its way into my cloistered night, I write…

We watched each other, only with a sideways glance

Our emotions played tug of war, as we denied the

Strength of our trust in each other

But the pull was consistent and even enough to coax

Our hands to meet in the middle, away from our beaten hearts

Now we tie a knot in the middle of our rope where our hands

Finally met, and bound together it will remain, through sun showers,

And through storm until it appears weather and tried

The small rays it will suffer through time are necessary to

Create the friction against the natural forces that may challenge

The strength of our knot…

And even though there may come times when the elements seem

Harsh enough to pull our knot apart, a timely, gentle chinook

Wind will come upon us and whisper a song in our ears to remind us

Of a time when all we knew was each other and we will each take

One end of the rope and pull with all our might to restrengthen

The familiar knot we have cherished

Then we look up at one another with a sideways glance and

Smile at each other as we reach forward through the wind to grasp

Securely onto each other’s hands and renew our promise to never

Let go!! …

I am a professor, a poet, an author, and an immigrant. I am the survival of many political and economical hardship. As a political immigrant, it took me a long time to master the English language and to come to terms that I can never see my family again. "THE PARTING FROM MY FAMILY WAS THE BEGINNING OF A FRIENDSHIP THAN THE END OF OUR FRIDAYS!" My autobiography, "THE RAIN STOPS IN TEXAS" was published in 1997 by Eakin Press. It can be found in Amazon. As Ernest Hemingway says, write about something you know, most of my novels are about cultural difference of the old and new and American style of living compare to my home country. My poetry are in all forms. I write as they come to me. My first draft is always my last draft. "THIS IS MY WORLD, WELCOME!" "THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE!"
